Abstract

This paper seeks to explore the relationship between immigrant incorporation regimes and noncitizen political engagement through a review of the most significant research advances in this area. Rather than make definitive conclusions, this paper is meant to serve as a roadmap for more detailed investigations in the future. The first two sections identify and analyze the various components of immigrant incorporation regimes in advanced industrial democracies and the modes of noncitizen political engagement that have emerged over the past two decades. I then provide an overview of the present state of comparative scholarship on noncitizen political engagement, highlight key arguments and disagreements, and finally, offer some suggestions for further research. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
