Abstract

The article discusses a report by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, which found that the number of young college graduates in science are being produced in countries other than the U.S. The U.S. is first in terms of the number of adults with a college education but the educational attainment of U.S. citizens has remained steadily at 39 percent for decades. In other countries, the number has increased over that same period of time. Another problem identified by the report was that a sizable percentage of college students in the U.S. dropout.
