Abstract

The International Criminal Court can be seen as an institutional spearhead in the paradigmatic clash between legal universalism and political power structures. The question arises as to whether the normative quality of the Court depends too heavily on its contextual authority. In this paper I will use the complementarity principle as formulated in the Rome Statute as a mirror, and as an analytic tool to assess the role of the Court as an international institution in a move towards global justice. ..PAT.-Unpublished Manuscript [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
