Abstract

The article reports on the protests against the judicial treatment of six black students in Jena, Louisiana. On September 20, 2007, thousands of people marched through streets in the town. They came from across the country. They were shouting slogans from the U.S. civil rights movements era. The students were arrested after they beat a white student in 2006 and charged with attempted murder. The issue has fueled the debate on race discrimination in the judicial system there.
