- The article reports on the preoperative identification, patient selection and preparation, choice of anesthetic technique, and postoperative management of adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) scheduled for ambulatory surgery. It discusses the definition, pathophysiology and consequences of OSA, and the effects of anesthesia and surgery on perioperative sleep.
