Abstract
- The article focuses on the contributions of European institutions, including the EU, NATO and the Organization for Security & Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to regional security in Europe. NATO has played a vital role in preserving security in the continent, chiefly through the subsequent military transformation of the new members. The EU has executed a new enlargement in 2004 under the liberal assumption of offering security by political and economic reforms in the new members. OSCE has made important contribution through monitoring basic freedoms.
