Abstract

The article compares the state and labor in Russia and China and identifies potential pathways that would foster the emergence of robust labor movement in post-communist Russia. It asserts that the legacy of Soviet-era labor relations reflects an impediment to the evolution of normal labor relations in Russia. The willingness of labor unions and their efforts to defend the rights and livelihoods of workers are tackled. It mentions the significance of the diversity of labor organizations in Russia.
