Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted a request from environmental and other activist groups seeking toxicity tests on the long-term effects of nonyphenol ethoxylates on aquatic life. However, EPA rejected requests for product-labeling requirements and other regulatory actions. According to EPA, the surfactants and their breakdown products can harm aquatic animals and plants.
