Abstract
- The article reports on the mass of spider webs in Texas, which is believed by some spider experts to be a mass dispersal event. Entomologist Allen Dean has identified adults and juvenile spiders from 11 arachnid families after examining a small collection of specimens from the cobweb. Dean found that the most abundant species was a long-jawed orbweaver, which is known to live near water. He also found numerous jumping spiders, parasitic dewdrop spiders and garden spiders, which made him conclude that various spiders are already present in the park.
