Abstract
- The article reflects on the speech given by U.S. President George W. Bush two days after the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2007. Bush stressed that the success of a free Iraq is critical to the security of the U.S. According to the author, the war launched by Bush created the conditions that allowed Al Qaeda in Iraq to thrive. It cites that any news story that mentions Al Qaeda in Iraq should note that the connection between the group and terrorist attacks is tenuous.
