The article reports that a vote has been won by DaimlerChrysler AG's management to call the single company as Daimler AG. But this was not before motions were filed by several shareholders pleading for the Benz name, in one form or another. In May 1998, during the negotiation of the merger between Daimler-Benz and Chrysler Corp., Daimler offered to drop the Benz hyphenate if Chrysler also agreed to take a name in DaimlerChrysler.
