Abstract

The article discusses the decision of some library boards to curtail or eliminate Spanish-language acquisitions. Equating the acquisition of Spanish-language fiction with catering to illegal aliens is an idea that originates from the broader immigration issue in the U.S. The author advocates open information accessibility for the millions of Latino citizens who work, pay taxes, and are library users entitled to the same rights as any other U.S. citizen.
