Abstract

The article discusses whether or not gays have lost Halloween, which was one a holiday where the gay community could be outlandish and outrageous. The author complains that Halloween parties in the 2000s have been overrun by college kids, gangbangers, mothers with babies, and tourists. Compounding the problem is regulations placed on behavior by city officials and residents, who are driven by fear. The holiday's history as a gay national holiday is examined, as well as the events that led to its downfall.
