Abstract
- This article reports on the refusal of television networks in the U.S. to air the anti-smoking advertising campaign of the American Legacy Foundation. ABC and CBS turned down all the spots, while NBC was still evaluating the commercials. The campaign was created to catch the attention of adolescent viewers according to Anthony Farina, press secretary for Delaware Governor Thomas Carper. The foundation was formed as a result of an agreement tobacco companies reached with state attorneys general settling state tobacco lawsuits.
