Abstract

The article discusses the Chinese folk art of paper cutting. Using scissors and knives to cut out patterns on paper, farmers, especially women, reportedly made the folk art a major source of decoration and a form of artistic expression for more than a thousand years. Researches and efforts to preserve the art are being made for the benefits of posterity. It explains that the Chinese government is committed to preserving Chinese folk art of paper cutting as part of the overall program of promoting and preserving Chinese culture.
