Abstract

Chapter 13 of the book "Addictions Counseling: A Practical and Comprehensive Guide to Counseling People With Addictions" is presented. It explores the second stage of a recovery treatment plan for addicts. This stage occurs when an addict stops using drugs and alcohol for at least six months. The primary treatment goal is to provide the external and internal structure necessary to help the patient to abstain from the addictive substance, as well as to avoid addictive behaviors.
