Abstract

Abstract: The La–Ni–V isothermal section at 500°C has been investigated in the whole composition range by means of X-ray diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy and electron probe microanalysis. It consists of 14 single-phase regions, 25 two-phase regions and 12 three-phase regions. At 500°C, the maximum solid solubility of V in Ni, LaNi5, La2Ni7 and LaNi3 is about 16at.%, 5at.%, 3at.% and 2.5at.%, respectively. The phase equilibria resulting from the large number of binary and ternary compounds were determined. No ternary compounds have been observed in this work. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
