Abstract
- The article highlights a German language program at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. that focuses on a more culturally-oriented approach to language learning. The author states that following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 in New York City, many perceived that Americans were ignorant of other cultures. The author also discusses a movement toward changing foreign language departments in colleges and universities that better incorporate various aspects of culture, including religion, media, and literature.
