Abstract

The article focuses on female administrators and officials at colleges and universities in Japan. It explains that few women work in top management positions in the country's higher education system. The reasons behind the lack of gender equity are explored, including a shortage of women in academic fields. Information about the female representation among Japan's other businesses is offered, as well as how Japan's rates compare to those of female representation in management positions in the U.S. The social aspects of women as homemakers in Japan are explored, and the recruitment of women for jobs in higher education is discussed.
