Abstract

The article features the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant in Newport, Michigan. It is a 1,150-megawatt nuclear power plant, which consists of a single operating unit that is based on the General Electric Co. boiling-water reactor design. It entered into commercial service in January 1988, which made it one of the last nuclear power plants to enter service in the U.S. The plant teamed up with the Washington Group for the upgrade of its moisture separator reheaters (MSRs), after a recommendation by DTE Energy that their MSRs needed to be changed.
