Abstract

The article reports that two car bombs exploded in Algiers, Algeria, killing at least 26 people and likely many more. The bombs exploded near a government building and a United Nations office. The terrorist group Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility. It was the worst terrorist attack since the civil war between the government and Islamic fundamentalist rebels in the 1990s.
