Abstract
- The author reflects on the issue of preeclampsia and increased cardiovascular risk. She suggests that guidelines for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease are appropriate for all women since cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women. She argues that women with a history of preeclampsia should have their risk of cardiovascular disease assessed three to six months after giving birth and begin a healthy diet and lifestyle because preeclampsia increases the long term risk of cardiovascular disease.
