Abstract

The article focuses on the food of the First Nations. Wild rice was used by the Ojibwa nation to thicken soups and use in tassimanonny. Corn was an essential food for the Iroquois who prepared it roasted, steamed, buried or fermented as well as ground into flour and made into popcorn. First Nations also harvested maple sap to be used as a syrup.
