Abstract

This essay establishes a bridge between philosophy as a hermeneutic symbol and literature as suggestive speech of multiple meanings, moving with certain amplitude in the spectrum of semantic possibilities that open the symbols in the literature of Gabriel García Márquez, in particular the story: "The most beautiful drowning in the world." In such context, the subject of the Latin American mixed race is approached whereas historical formation of sense, keeping in mind the disillusion of the Western rationality and the many presences of the past indigenous and colonial that still populate the world in the life of the Latin American man. Finally, the challenge implies the "Latin American identity" in the present context of globalization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
