Abstract
- The article presents information regarding a porcelain vase made by Kate B. Sears and the Ceramic Art Co. in Trenton, New Jersey, circa 1892. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City acquired this object in 2006 with the help of a gift from Lenox Inc. This Belleek vase received a different kind of embellishment from Kate Sears, who carved only a few vessels in 1891 and 1892. She was noticed by critics in the 1891 in the "Crockery and Glass Journal," where they described her porcelain carving as very different from common methods used in decorating pottery and porcelain.
