TiLab deal with the fixed-mobile convergence within the context of Telecom Italia's first meeting with the Financial Community held in April 2005, where strategies regarding this convergence were discussed. Thus, the authors examine the possible evolutions in a three-year period aiming at exposing the synergies and peculiarities of the new architecture of fixed and mobile network. A historical background based on the genesis of this approach is taken as a starting point giving path to those issues related to the architecture and technology.
