Abstract

The article reports that violence has continued in Kenya over the results of its disputed presidential election of late December 2007. Over 300 persons have been killed from December 31, 2007 through January 2, 2008. Western diplomats have been pressuring President Mwai Kibaki, widely thought to have rigged his re-election, and opposition leader Raila Odinga to resolve their differences without success. Many Kenyans fear ethnic conflict could lead to chaos.
