Abstract

The article compares type II collagen catabolism in the genotypes and compares the usefulness of biomarkers of collagen degradation for evaluating collagen catabolism in vivo. The researchers found that different double-deficient: wild type (WT) ratios observed with cartilage type II collagen (C2C), type II collagen (Coll2-1), and type II collagen nitrated (Coll2-1NO2) in the absence of any correlation between the expression of the biomarkers indicate that the biomarkers give complementary information about in vivo type II collagen catabolism.
