2006 Young Investigator Award Winner: Lumbosacral Nerve Root Displacement and Strain Part 1. A Novel Measurement Technique During Straight Leg Raise in Unembalmed Cadavers.

The article provides a study to describe the displacement and strain of the lumbosacral nerve roots present in the lateral recess without forminal ligaments disruption during straight leg raise (SLR). It also includes the study of the lower limbs and associated nerve roots of unembalmed cadavers (n=10). The methodology involves the insertion of the metal markers within the lateral recess of L4, L5, and S1 along with a modified spinal needle.
