Abstract

The article reports that the movement of Iraqi Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr may withdraw support to the Shiite bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, United Iraqi Alliance. The movement made an announcement to the effect on September 15, 2007. The legislators attached with Sadr have complained that they have been marginalized in the bloc. The Sadr movement supported Nuri Kamal al-Maliki in becoming prime minister in 2006.
