Abstract

The article discusses the legal and factual regulations concerning the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in relation to the international law. The author explains that GMOs need appropriate regulations since its products affect both public and private sectors. He mentions that uncertainties in the regulations of GMOs affect the transnational commercial issues including agriculture, trade, environment protection, health protection and consumer information. The article also analyzes the fragmentations in international law through the conflict between the Cartagena Biosafety Protocol and the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement of the World Trade Organization.
