Commentary.

The article provides information on the literature survey made by N. Komen and his colleagues on anastomotic leakage using biomarkers. Komen and his colleagues were able to make literature survey with the use of terms such as drainage fluid and anastomotic leakage wherein their focus was on colorectal anastomoses. It mentions that the biomarkers were subdivided into four groups which include immune parameters, tissue repair parameters, ischaemia parameters and microbiological parameters.
