Abstract
- The article presents a study on two-photon excitation to stimulate and image neural circuits in the U.S. Rafael Yuste and colleagues at the Columbia University proposed a new method for stimulating individual neurons and monitoring neural circuit activity using a two-photon excitation through an infrared laser in studying the structure and function of neural circuits. The researchers photostimulated a single neuron by photocleaving caged glutamate at a high laser intensity wherein the free glutamate caused the neuron to start several action potentials.
