Abstract

The author reflects on the condition of nurses in Great Britain's National Health Service (NHS). He mentions that some nurses have complained about the Royal College of Nursing, low NHS morale, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and the ratio of NHS paper-pushers to front-line staff. He points out that these complaints should be taken seriously. He argues that it will be hard to improve the health of working people if there are legions of disillusioned nurses in the NHS.
