Abstract

The article reports that the Suffolk County district attorney, Thomas J. Spota, will not retry Martin H. Tankleff for the 1988 murders of his parents, Seymour and Arlene Tankleff, who were found dead in their home on September 17, 1988. Spota claims he will request that New York Governor Eliot Spitzer appoint a special prosecutor to reinvestigate the case. The phrase "protections against double jeopardy" is discussed.
