Abstract
- Wilhelm Ljunggren proved many results on quartic Diophantine equations of the form aX4-bY2 = c, with c∈{±1,-2,±4}. Noticeably absent from this set of values of c is c = 2. We describe some recent progress on this problem, and discuss some open problems which require further study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
