Schools Raise Bar for Classes for the Gifted.

The author reports that programs for gifted students in the New York City school system are going include only those who score in the top five percent of admissions tests. The number of children already taking part in gifted programs who may not meet these admissions requirements are mentioned. Criticisms which have previously been raised regarding admissions to the gifted programs by New York City School Chancellor, Joel I. Klein, are discussed.
