2008/2009 AMS/Industry Minority Scholarship Announcements.

The article announces the application for the 2008/2009 American Meteorological Society (AMS)/ Industry Minority Scholarships offered by the Society in cooperation with industry. This program encourages minority students who have been traditionally underrepresented in sciences to pursue careers in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. AMS will be awarding a total of seven scholarships to students entering their freshman year of college. The awards offer $6,000 stipends, $3,000 for the freshman year, and an additional $3,000 for the sophomore year. It is noted that three of its scholarships have been funded through generous donations from AMS members.
