Abstract
- The article discusses the A Forest for Every Classroom (FFEC) program, a year-long professional development program for Vermont-based educators. The theory behind the program is that students who are immersed in the study of their surroundings are more eager to learn and become involved in their community. The FFEC teaches educators about Vermont's Northern Forest. The program has been running for seven years, with more than 80 teachers participating. The FFEC model is being applied in other areas including New Hampshire, New York and Texas.
