Abstract

The article describes the architectural design of an Angoulême, France-based art school and paper-making museum which was formerly a disused mill. The school and the museum are interlocked, with the entrance to the museum on the townend, and the one to the school on the island. The old building has a wonderful robustness from the mixture of Classical stonework to early 19th century engineering.
