Abstract

The article presents several opinions from students and professors regarding the issue of including extreme sports and dance in the physical education curriculum in the U.S. Professor Dennis Docheff do not support the inclusion of extreme activities in the curriculum because it raises a concern regarding the safety of the participants. Undergraduate student Amy VanHouten also disagree by citing the cost it would entail in purchasing safety equipment and the training of physical educators. However, Rowan University students Marie Moore, Joe Thompson, and Rachel Lukowiak believe that extreme sports promote lifetime physical activity, keeps them active and broadens their horizon.
