Abstract
- The article offers an outlook for the global satellite communications industry. The industry, as a whole, is strengthening, with fixed-satellite services showing continued growth in North America and Europe and signs of a rebound in Asia and South America. To meet the demand, 27 geostationary commercial communications satellites were ordered in 2006. Eleven of the 27 ordered went to U.S. manufacturers. European manufacturers of geosynchronous-orbit (GEO) commercial communications satellites fared better.
