Abstract
- The article presents an overview of research which has examined tumor immunity, effector response to tumors, and the role of the microenvironment in tumors and cancer treatment. A discussion of the mechanics of cancer and tumor physiology, tumor disruptive inflammatory responses, and the functional characteristics of adaptive immune responses in the tumor microenvironment and draining lymph nodes, is presented. The immunological constant of rejection and the role it plays in cancer and tumor formation is discussed.
