Abstract

The article reflects on recent developments in the paper industry. It is observed that the industry has just seen a down turn because it is run by engineers who love to build fancy new plants with little concern for their returns. It is opined that the recent wave of mergers is caused by the fact that the industry has no other way to grow. It is noted that the acquisition deals may turn this industry into a competitive and global business like any other.
