Abstract
- The article focuses on a public relations crisis for Southwest Airlines. The company was fined $10.2 million in March, 2008 by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for failing to report cracks in the fuselages of some of its planes. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gary Kelly did a series of televised interviews to defend the company. Marketing analysts state Southwest may wish to reconsider the lighthearted tone of its television advertising created by Omnicon.
