Abstract

Abstract: MClχ/SiMCM-41 was prepared by impregnation and its behaviors on the decomposition of CCl4 into diphenyl carbonate (DPC) were examined. The maximum DPC yield of 20.7% was obtained when ZnCl2 was supported on SiMCM-41 with 35% loading. ZnCl2/SiMCM-41 was characterized by XRD and N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms, and the characterized results showed that ZnCl2 was highly dispersed on SiMCM-41 and ZnCl2/SiMCM-41 had high BET surface area. The main reasons for ZnCl2/SiMCM-41 displaying the higher activity than any other MClχ/SiMCM-41 might be the zero ligands field stabilized energy (LFSE) and strong Lewis acid of Zn (II).
