Abstract
- The article discusses the text messaging system Twitter and its usage at universities. The service allows students and professors to send short notes to cellphones and computers, a process called microblogging. It also allows messages to be posted for multiple users. Media professor David Parry suggested that the message service created a greater sense of community in the classroom and allows teachers to communicate with students. The educational technology company Blackboard has acquired the messaging company NTI Group to provide a similar messaging system to customers. Instructional technologist Laura J. Little notes that Twitter can make communication between teachers more efficient.
