Abstract

The article examines the almost universal human practice of talking to oneself in the context of the workplace. Psychologists state that talking to yourself serves a variety of uses in what is known as self-regulation, such as goal-setting, which are helpful at work. However, it can also create an inappropriate distraction to other employees. Researchers note most instances of talking to oneself stem from frustration.
