Abstract

This article describes the evolution and components of a specialized program focused on the needs of nurses within an academic medical center provided by the internal employee assistance program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Given the unique stressors faced by this workplace population, a Nurse Wellness Program was developed to help nurses deal with workplace and personal problems. The Nurse Wellness Program of Work/Life Connections-EAP is focused on assessment, treatment, and referral of nurses as a target population. The Work/Life Connections-EAP nurse wellness clinician serves as the champion of the Nurse Wellness Program of Vanderbilt University. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
