Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (PTO) has upheld two patents owned by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) that cover the derivation of primate and human embryonic stem cells. The decision comes under two weeks after PTO upheld another of WARF's key stem cell patents. The three patents are based on work done by Professor James A. Thomson of University of Wisconsin.
